So this is a rave about St Moritz Instant Self Tanning Mousse for you. It is without a doubt my go-to, favourite fake tan simply because of it easy application & its good colour pay off.
I always use the original mousse version but you can also get it in a lotion, a spray mist and a darker colour. I prefer to use the mousse simply because all the spray products i have used before tend to go all over surrounding areas such as furniture and walls and lotions are too thick and heavy for my liking.
I tend not to sit out in the sun very often as I am very moley and also burn very quickly :/ which means i don't have much colour to my complexion. However when summer time comes i like to show a bit more skin and also on nights out. This is when St Moritz comes in handy.
Before I used this product I used to use the tanning moisturisers because I could never apply fake tan without it turning out streaky and odd looking. With St Moritz I don't have this problem!
My initial thoughts are that the packaging is very clean looking because as you can see from the picture is it just plain white with brown and black writing. The packaging is also not overloaded with writing, there is just a few important things that you need to know.
It claims that:
- Its longer lasting
- Instant bronzing
- Fast drying
- No streaks.
- A professional flawless tan, easy, no mess application.
The back of the bottle suggests that you exfoliate all over and apply a moisturiser to the dry areas of the body (ie. knees, elbows, hands, ankles, feet). Next it says to apply the mousse by rubbing it gently and evenly into the skin, allowing it to absorb. It is important to leave it for at least 4-6 hours before showering.
Personal experience...
The exfoliator that I use is the Coconut Lime one from H&M, I also use a pair of exfoliation gloves just to help remove that dead skin a little bit easier. The moisturiser that I use is the FCUK polished - Whipped bodycream.
To apply the tan I use a tan mitt which can be brought for around £1-3. Its not essential to apply it with a mitt however i feel that this is the least messy way as applying it directly from your hands can leave the palms orange even after washing them. The mousse is dispensed from the bottle through a pump and when it is applied to the mitt it looks like a very scary, messy, dark brown foam. Way to dark for my skin, don't let that put you off!
It is important to work quickly as the mousse does dry very fast. As it is instant and a very dark brown you can see exactly where you have applied it and bits you have missed. This is great for beginners or people that just cannot seem to apply fake tan streak free. There is definitely a scent to the tan, it smells very clean and soap like. Once it is dry that smell changes slightly but it is not a strong and off putting smell like some fake tans seem to have.
I always apply my tan about an hour before bed and let it develop overnight. As it claims, it does dry very quickly which is great if you've got things to get on with after applying the tan. When I wake up i am always left with a non streaky flawless looking tan. Its a very natural colour and lasts for quite a while.
St Moritz does exactly what it says on the bottle and for £2.99 for 200ml you cant go wrong. 1 bottle of this lasts me about 6weeks-2months. I apply it once every week and use a tinted moisturiser between applications.
All in all I am very impressed with this product and would recommend it to anyone!
